The wind was really gusty all morning so we spent it wandering back and forth to the beach and trying to persuade the Boardwise guys and manufacturers to set up in the estuary rather than on the seafront. Around miday the wind seemed to fill in so we headed off to the estuary, everyone soon cuaght on and followed us there. A few people went out straight away with big kit (7.5's and 8's), but I held on and got myself a 5m Gaastra Manic and a Tabou Rocket Air 59, by the time I had got this set up the wind had filled in nicely and I was well powered up. The board felt pretty good as an all-rounder, pretty fast, gybed well and had a fair bit of pop for some chop hops.

The wind continued to pick up and the estuary soon became really busy which made things feel a little strange as I'm usually the only one out, so finding room to gybe etc became a bit of a challenge at times. I was also now pretty overpowered with the 5m so after a while came in to find a smaller board. They all seemed to be taken though so I ended up back on the Rocket Air.

All in all a good but busy day in the estuary, some guys were pulling some nice forwards off the flat water along with all sorts of vulcans, grubby's switch-stance flakas etc.... Pretty impressive stuff. Of course, after injuring my back earlier in the week I was taking things easy so decide to give those moves a miss today!! I was also pretty windy most of the time, with sails as small as 3.7m being used whilst others were still on 6.5s! The 5m I had was probably just about right really although a 4.5m would have been plenty.
